Summer is well and truly on its way here in Hong Kong which means our winter knitting projects are on hold until the colder months return. And so we were very excited to see all the knitting and crochet at Fashion Week. Below is our round up of what was shown on the runway and how you can incorporate this into your projects.
Michael Kors presented a twinset - dress and cardigan, crochet in a beautiful dove grey. For a similar cardigan pattern, try Soy Simple Sweater by Carol Wolf in KPC Novomerino 4ply in Thunder or for a luxurious option, the KPC 100% Cashmere in Cloud Nine. And for the dress, An afternoon at Pemberley or Occasion Crochet Dress will complete the set.
Dior Cruise showed a very simple and classic look - a black wool suit with a knitted bra. The Leeds Halter Bra top by Tara-Lynn Morrison looks like a perfect substitute and small, quick projects are always on our list of to-do’s. Knit this one over the weekend and you have a new addition to your wardrobe, right off the runway. KPC Glencoul 4 ply, with a 30% cotton content comes in a whole range of bright colours, making this the perfect choice for this project. I will definitely try this pattern this week.
Crop tops are making a comeback and admittedly, this is not a trend for everyone and every body shape. But if you have a teen in the family, this would be a very welcome gift. Try the Spring Fling, shown on Ravelry in a perfect combination of white and grey.
Another trend making the rounds, are cut-outs - whether on tops, cardigans or skirts, in the front, around the neckline or in the back. Phildar’s new catalogue has an on-trend summery sweater with butterfly wing cutouts that will suit any shape and would equally look great in any colour. Try one of the Pantone 2014 colours like Placid Blue or Purple Haze.
