If you are anything like me, I can spend copious amounts of time trawling Ravelry. When I joined Ravelry in 2007, the site was just starting up and in beta. But I thought I’d found the holy grail of knitting and crochet sites! And it hasn’t disappointed.
This week, we have been gawking and fantasizing over a few lovely patterns and wanted to share them with you. My favourite way to browse Ravelry is through the pattern browser and advanced search function. By pointing the search to ‘hot right now’ items, you get focussed list of current patterns that are the most favourited, liked, added to queue or cast on at the present moment.
Below is a list of our favourites from the 'hot right now’ items on Ravelry this week.
Shawls
Moonraker by Melanie Berg immediately caught my attention due to the interesting stitches and colour combination used. This is definitely on the list to cast on for winter.
Deep End by Heidi Kirrmaier is another shawl pattern that stood out. I am in love with the colours in this shawl and KPC’s cashmere would be the perfect yarn of choice.
Winter knits/ gifts
If you are a beginner knitter, the Kirara fingerless gloves by Ram Wools Yarn Co-op is a must try. Knit in one flat piece with an easy introduction to yarn overs and decreases, this will also be a star gift come birthdays or Christmas.
Toys
Aloysius the African Flower Owlet by Heidi Bears is a very cute and colourful pattern that would make any mom-to-be or little one happy! Also a great pattern to learn some new granny squares.
Kids
Everyone should have a pair of Converse sneakers, baby included. These Crochet Baby Converse by Suzanne Resaul are cute embodied. I have made and gifted several pairs of these and they were probably the most oohed and aahed over gift at the baby shower.
Advanced
Sandshore by Alicia Plummer reminds me of summer evenings at the beach, sitting in the sand watching the sun go down.
For a pop of colour, try the Summer Festival by Georgie Hallam. I would knit this in KPC Novomerino in Mango or for a more luxurious cardigan, the Soft Jade in Cashmere.
All of the above patterns have been saved here on Ravelry and here on Pinterest so be sure to check in regularly for more inspiration. And don’t forget to visit the KPC Yarn online store for yarn, accessories and the popular KPC tote bag.
